Budget Meeting Dec. 11, 2024: Question asked about a $10,000 over billing by a law firm.
Alan Rothenberg lied and said no law firm over billed Estates ll. Estates ll was indeed over billed by the Condo's law firm, yet the board failed to take appropriate action, neither terminating the firm's services nor seeking reimbursement for the unauthorized amount.
It may be reasonable to account for a minor overbilling discrepancy, perhaps amounting to an additional hour or two of inadvertent charges. However, the sum of $10,000 is not only excessive but lacks any logical basis. Furthermore, the boards lack of requirement for the law firm to issue a refund check to Estates II raises significant concerns.
Estates II has increasingly become reliant upon the continued services of the law firm, a marked shift from prior practices where the board effectively resolved matters without significant legal intervention, resulting in minimal legal expenses. In light of this shift, it is noteworthy that we are now budgeting an unprecedented $75,000 for legal fees. This situation suggests that there are fundamental issues with the operational management of Estates II that warrant immediate review and rectification.
